To expand our services investment has been made in the latest technology solid wood processing machines. We have installed a Weinig Powermat 1000, twelve-inch, six-head moulder with PowerCom software;complimentary state-of-the-art toolroom machinery; and a Dimter, S50 optimising cross-cut saw is due for installation in October 2007.

Since the installation of the Weinig Powermat 1000 moulder system and the upgraded toolroom in July, numerous benefits have already been achieved. The Powermat has replaced two moulders, and it is very quick to set up and change over jobs due to the PowerCom quick setting system and new technology HSK tooling; faster and greater throughput due to its 8000 rpm spindles; and better finish and accuracy.

The toolroom investment has speeded the production system up considerably. The OptiControl setting stand measures the tooling very precisely and records the readings for future repeat orders and also stores complete customer records for easy access and reference. The computerised template maker means we can make tooling for bespoke profiles easily and quickly. It is altogether much more efficient and productive.

In October, the Dimter S50 OptiControl optimising cross-cut saw will replace the manual cross-cut saw presently used. The Dimter will increase cross-cutting throughput fourfold. It is more flexible, safer, and more accurate, saves timber waste, and is highly profitable. It will open up more opportunities to serve customers, particularly where specific lengths of products are required for JIT manufacturing.

THE NEW RACKING AREA WHICH IS DUE FOR COMPLETION EARLY 2008
